Good morning, shoppers!
The sun’s out, and so are we. The other day, I was taking a walk and talking to a pal on the phone and I found two bucks on the sidewalk. It ruled! Let’s notice more of the small, good things that happen in our days and take them as the wins that they are. It’s looking bright out there.

Last weekend, I learned to shuck an oyster. Thanks to a protective glove, a proper oyster knife and a patient teacher, it’s all I can think about. The act of opening those silvery shells to reveal a slimy, briny, salt-water laden indulgence again and again and again. My kind of heaven. The folks at Andagain, who specialize in sustainable luxury goods, must agree because they’ve made a handmade tote bag with real upcycled oysters (coated in polyurethane, of course). Available in beige and black, it could be worth shelling out for. –MC
“You have old bones, Mommy.” I mean, my kid isn’t wrong, but I can’t say I have an amazing reason for finally giving in and checking out on some cute(?) compression socks that I’ve been endlessly targeted for for years. I’m also not helping those old bones with recent bumps and thumps, including an incident where my coffee table won in a fight against my ankle (moral of the story, don’t ever get off the couch) and another where I ended a long run in dramatic fashion by pulling a Peter Pan on the sidewalk (again, just stay on the couch where it’s safe). If there’s some well-designed product that can save me from myself, please do let me know. In the meantime, let’s see if these bad boys really are the gentle hug my calves have been looking for. —KW
Forgive my armchair psychology here, but breakfast in someone else's home is a front row seat to their psyche. You can tell a lot about a person based on what happens between their stovetop and your plate. Are they frantic, worried that the bacon isn’t quite crispy enough and the eggs have grown cold? Is there enough water in the kettle for more tea? Napkins, they forgot the napkins, didn’t they? Worries aside, the best part of this caffeine-reliant spectacle is learning all the little tricks your dining companion uses to make it possible, like counting on a butter crock to aid in the creation of perfect toast, or heating up a cold bottle of syrup to ensure your pancakes are awash in sugary goodness – a practice that this little vessel will make easier. –MC
I’ve got some hot dish for you, but first, let me throw this stupidly gorgeous trivet on the table. I’ve been watching The Sopranos for the first time (please take your “omg whaaaaaat”s elsewhere, I have plenty), and it awakens the part of me that’s always ready to throw a lasagna in the oven and tell everyone I know to take another portion. My rug is washable and my table is expandable, so come on over. The more, the merrier.—KW
Like many elder millennials, the resurgence of wide-leg pants has me second guessing everything I know to be true. I’ll admit that reprising the silhouettes I wore in middle school during my late 30s has led me to make some interesting discoveries, the most recent being that Dickies makes skirts. I’ve got my eye on this short, high-waisted Elizaville skirt with knife pleats mainly because it claims to channel “a pep squad vibe,” and that is way more exciting than learning not to trip in your baggy jeans. –MC
It’s unbelievable that this is still happening. Everytown for Gun Safety. Resistbot. Moms Demand Action. The Brady Campaign. Sandy Hook Promise. Giffords.
